Hobby Lobby has been denied, by Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor, injunctive relief from the HHS mandate, which is effective for the company on the 1st of January 2013. The owners of Hobby Lobby have decided to defy the HHS mandate–they will not cover abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, or sterilization to employees in health plans. This could cost Hobby Lobby up to $1.3 million per day in fines.
The owners of Hobby Lobby will not act against their faith and their conscience. As we review history, very few have stood against a government demanding that the people violate their faiths. And those very few who stand are more often than not martyred.
Hobby Lobby and the Greens are standing up to this monstrosity of a mandate. We all should be standing with them.
