New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Catholic, is supporting the Reproductive Health Care Act, one of the nation’s most radical abortion laws. It will make virtually all abortions a fundamental right of women and make illegal nearly all current restrictions on abortions, such as parental notification and consent, and fund abortions with taxpayer money.
Most troubling for religious liberty, the law could require Catholic hospitals to perform abortions, or otherwise be shut down, or lose state Medicaid funding. The law could also threaten Catholic schools and charities when they refuse to refer girls and women to abortion providers. The law also threatens medical professionals who refuse to perform or assist with abortions, or refer patients to abortion providers.
The culture of death is prevailing.
